I'm underweight and I have a question?!

Question: Hi, i'm a teen and i'm underweight. I eat normally, but i don't exercise. My parents want me to exercise more but i'm afraid that I might lose more weight. What types of things should I do to gain more weight? Things that arent' too drastic and that are suitable for a teenager please. Because I really need to gain weight, i'm not comfortable with my skinny-ness, i was hoping there would be a way to exercise without losing weight and also hoping there would be easy ways to gain more weight. I eat as much as I can at times, so I dont' think i need to eat more.
All answers are appreciated. Thanks.

Firstly, since you are a teen, you are still growing, so it may just be that your body isn't ready to become an adult yet, if that makes sense.

Make sure that you have a balance diet, although you probably do, since you have said so. This includes meat and vegetables and things, although sometimes in seems like fatty foods and stuff are the sort you should eat to gain weight.
Remember to treat yourself to sweet stuff aswell though because that will help you gain weight, obviously. Lol. (an remember that you need to drink the right amount of water and stuff too. ;P)

If you do the right kind of excersize, it is unlikely that you will lose weight. You could join the gym and concentrate on getting muscle, rather than losing weight (Not so much that you start to look manly ;P). So for example, rather than jogging and stuff, do things to make yourself put on weight, kinda thing. :) Ideally, you could go maybe twice a month working up to once a week.

I think that's about it, but you shouldn't be worried about it, because it may just be that you are a naturally petite person, so you can still have lots of clothes and things to flatter your shape, and that can add shape as well.

Hope I have helped, thanks. :) x

It's refreshing to see somebody who wants to gain weight. To gain weight a healthy way. This article may help:

Good luck.

If you consider that you eat enough or a lot and you don't gain any weight then you should tell your parents to take you to an Endocrinologist or Internal Medicine doctor so he/she can check your blood for Hyperthyroidism.
If everything is OK and your health is perfect then try to start lifting some weights and drink Gainers Fuel 2500 from TwinLab. It's a powder that makes you gain weight by adding a lot of healthy nutrients and protein to your body in a healthy way without making you gain fat.

I'm 27 and I've always been skinny. I'm 6'2", my average weight is 145, and the most I've ever gotten up to was 160 and I felt jacked. I've tried everything from eating nothing but McD's for a month, 5 times a day and gained nothing.

Soooooooooo...

If you're serious about gaining weight you'll have to take a ton of protein, and do a lot of heavy weight lifting with low reps.

Heavy weights, low repetitions, eat tons and take a bunch of protein/weight gainer supplements = A Lot of HARD WORK

Otherwise... just accept your skinnyness.

The good news is that THIN IS IN :-)

If you eat normally and are not ill, then I am sorry but you are not underweight. it is YOUR normal weight. it mat be different from other peoples.... but it is YOURS

People tell me I look fine the way I am, and I feel fine... but the experts say I am over weight. I was over 10lb born and I have been big all my life. I eat good and I have a lot of muscle.

so I would say... just live with it

I wish I could trade you problems. I hope that doesn't sound insensitive but I am overweight and always have been since I had my first child. I grew up under weight and now that I have experienced both I wish I could go back. I do have a son who is very small. My uncle owns a health and fitness store and he suggested that my son eat a lot of protein then work out. There are protein shakes etc. He also said to add calories so instead of toast and margarine go for a bagel with cream cheese. You can go to a fitness club and ask for an instructor-these are usually free of charge from my experience-and they can help you come up with a plan to exercise to gain rather than to lose. Good luck.
