Why is chewing gum in Singapore illegal?!?!

Question: my sister told me this..
why?

Answers: my sister told me this..
why?

Chewing gum was banned in Singapore after the MRT service was in operation for 1 year plus. Thus many believed that the Government had banned chewing gum had to do with commuter had litter the chewing gum in the train.
Anyway, the reason the Government gave when they banned the chewing gum was it cost the country alot to clean up the chewing gum.

Probably not true but anyway if it is Because someone said so!

It's a litter problem, so there is research being done about biodegradable gum. Strange about it being illegal just due to litter...but it's the reason! :)

Its not completely true...these days you get to buy chewing gums from pharmacy...but it was banned because of litter problem

alot of times stupid laws exist because polititions add on these laws to other laws as revesions i think so the law donesnt pass or so ive been told

if this information is true what I heard was because long time ago. it cause the subway train door jammed. then the government issue the law for solve the future problem

Because as usual there are people that spit it out on the street and this is a horrible mess and possibly there are health concerns.I have heard of this too in places besides Singapore.People decides to just vote it a law to remedy
the expense of clean up.Chew gum get a fine, more money for Singapore.
