Why am I still tired in the morning, even after going to bed at a decent time?!

Question: I get like this every now and then and it lasts a couple of months or so. Last night I went to bed by 9:30 p.m. and I woke up at 6:20 a.m. feeling like I could go right back to sleep. I was so tired and sleepy. The same thing happened night before last. I went to bed at 9 something and woke up at 6 something feeling like I'd been hit by a bus.

I typically don't go to bed until 11 p.m., midnight and sometimes as late as 2 a.m. (but that's rare). I really don't feel that my body is catching up on the lost sleep because I only go through this "sleepy" phase every couple of months.

What could be the cause of this?

You may want to have a sleep study, you could have sleep apnea. This is where you stop breathing while you are sleeping and your body wakes up but you don't really wake up to consciousness. This can happen many many times during the night. So you are not really getting a good nights sleep...........

Because you should start sleepin early so that your body re heals and becomes more use to sleeping and after a while u will feel lots better and alive.

Many things could be causing it. Here's a few:
Depression
Poor diet
Caffeine before bed
Lack of Iron in blood/body
Lack of vitamin B6 and B12
Stress during the day.

Look at all the factors going on in your life at these times and try to see if anything there are any changes from your regular lifestyle during these periods.

It could be a number of things and you may want to go to a doctor for this. But I have the same problem and these are the things that could be causing it:

Depression
Poor diet
Low iron (or even other vitamins)
Alcohol or drugs

The one thing that I know that causes it for me is this (which is common among teens and young adults):

During the week you work (or go to school). So you go to bed around the same time and get up around the same time. On the weekend, you stay up late and sleep in. This throws off your sleep schedule. It can get to be worse as you get older and your body can't adapt as well. Try going about a month going to bed and getting up around the same time. If this helps, you can rule out any of the above factors.

its your biological clock, every 6 months when they change the time, i'm either an hour late or early waking up. pst-dst
