What would you suggest is better; weight training 3 or 6 times a week?!

Question: Training 3 times a week with a total body workout each time.
E.g. Mon, Wed & Fri (upper & lower body)

OR

Training 6 times a week, doing upper and lower on alternate days.
E.g. Mon, Wed & Fri (upper body) and Tue, Thu & Sat (lower body)

What are the pros and cons of each choice?

Thanks!

i would do the first choice, and do cardio workouts on the other days, make sure u choose a day to rest to allow muscle buildup...

depending on what your trying to achieve?..

doind a total body workout combined with cardio 3 times a week will help with trimming and toning

working out 6 times a week seems a little too much, i get most of my client to work out a max of 5 days and mostly 4 days per week allowing breaks in between. When strenght training muscle groups you should aim to only focus on a max of 2 groups at a time (e.g. biceps , legs) and follow with a short cardio session of 20mins or so this will help with better results on bulk as well as trim, if you knock out the cardio you are then only concentrating on bulk. I have some exercises and tips similar to your question on my blog http://myfitmate.blogspot.com/ have a look see if theres anything that applies.. good luck

Doing 6 times a week will mean, less time to rest your body. You'll end up straining your muscles and could end up seriously hurting yourself.

Doing 3 times would be best.

For the sake of convenience I would recommend total body training 3 times a week.

3 days a week. it gives your body a day to rest and rebuild the muscles. if you work out every day, it does more hurt than help.
