Senokot??good or not?!

Question: is it good, personal experience please

Answers: is it good, personal experience please

I recently had a major operation with a number of painkilllers which cause constipation. The best cure was Senokot Max. It works much better then the liquid alternatives I was given by the hospital.

good, but go easy on em coz you may start relying on em...eat some figs instead

No. Gives you the cramps. Try loads of fruit juice - or fresh pineapple.

yeah they work!

but if you dont mind the cramping pains go for it!

i would rather drink orange juice

weetabix also works (sounds strange i know but helps a child i work with reall well)

Not bad. But try Fybogel Orange. It's in a single sachet and makes a drink. Over the counter or by prescription.

Packet says it contains Ispaghula Husk.

Agree above - daily Weetabix is also very good. And an apple a day.

Yes, Senokot is an effective laxative, but it can cause quite bad tummy cramps.
Fybogel also works, but once you've mixed it, make sure drink it straight away otherwise it sets into a jelly!
But if you take any laxative long term, you can become dependant on them, so you need to look at other ways of solving your constipation.
Plenty of fluids. Water and fresh fruit juice are best. Lots of fruit and veggies. Fibre rich foods, including Weetabix for your breakfast.
Hope you feel better soon.

do u mean good as in does it work - yes. its ok for occasional use but u shouldnt use it too often otherwise u can get bowel probs.

good for occasional use, but eating a diet with plenty of fresh fruit, raw veggies, brown bread & pulses is far far better than relying on them in the first place.
but if you really need to every now & then, it should be ok.
