The most important thing is sleep, get at leats 8 hours when dieting/exercising because your body can recover. Try exercising earlier in the morning when your metabolism is at the highest so that way you burn more calories with less work. Drink lots of water, do not drink anything but water because it has no calories and will make digestion easier and keep you hydrated. Diet sodas have a chemical in tehm to actually stimulate the hunger sensation. Keep your head on straight, WRITE down what your going to do, like 50 crunches, 25 pushups etc, so that way you will have a better chance on completing them. Good luck in 2008

I can suggest you the following steps from my experience:
1. Start a diet - whatever you like (Tibet's, Japanese, Winter, the link is below). You can have fun with Colored diet (web below)
2. Exercise - it can be just walk (5 km per day at the beginning), run, dance
3. Change the diet after two weeks - start new one, continuing exercising.
4. Do not give up if you do not lose weight as fast as you want. The body needs time to react.

here are some tips. Eat as soon as you wake up this will jump start your metabolism and help burn more calories throughout the day. Drinking ice cold water will help too. drinking the recommended 8 glasses of water a day at an ice cold temp could help you burn an extra 100 calories. Your body will burn cals bringing the water up to body temp. Eating smaller meals more often in the day will help keep your metabolism working at full speed all day. And most important don't forget to exercise at least an hour a day. Hope i helped.
