Is it ok to eat chips before a run?!

Question: I'm looking at a chex mix cheddar flavor and it has all kind of good stuff in it. It has most of the vitamins in it including 10% vitamins B6 and B12, 21g carbohydrate, 60mg potassium and others like zinc iron and stuff. Is it a good idea to eat this kind of chips before you go running for energy?

No, the fat especially the saturated fat will drain your energy away. It'll make you tired much quicker. Plus, I doubt the carbs in it are whole-wheat carbs. You want healthy carbs pre-workout/ pre-cardio.

EDIT: What are you running for? Is this before a competition, before training for track, or what? If you're looking to burn fat, stay away from carbs or fat before a run, and go for protein only (egg whites/ whey protein shake, etc.). If this is for track practice or whatever, eat healthy carbs like veggies, whole-grains (oatmeal, whole-wheat bread, etc.), fat-free dairy like milk is excellent.

its ok but u could probably do better...

i'm guessing that has a lot of carbs in it, which are good to eat before exercising, so they're fine

Yea, its fine, you need energy, but you will be running off those calories first and foremost. Something like a banana would be more suitable.

even though chips are great i would recommend granoala bars or some wheat thin. they give you lots of energy. i wouldnt trust the prosecessed cheese they use in cheetos or whatev. DONT DO IT! haha

I would try and go for something that isnt a snack food. Yeah it has all that good stuff in it, but it probably has a large amount of sodium, fat, or sat. fat which is the most unhealthiest. Something like an apple or an orange would be healthier.
