How can I encourage my boyfriend to work out?!

Question: I've got a really nice boyfriend, very good looking, and tons of physical potential as in getting bigger arms and chest. He always has been the really laid back guy, his job is sit down, comps, etc.

Example....
The other day, we had to go buy rock salt for the driveway. So, I figured I'll just buy four 50 lb. bags to save me from future trips. I threw a bag up on both shoulders, looked over at him and he was struggling with lifting one 50. I couldn't believe it.
I didn't want to offend him so, I just put the two I had in the truck, came back over, grabbed the last one, and by this time, he got his in the truck. I never said anything to him about it but still, it's not cool.

What can I do to quietly encourage him to lift weights with me? I have them in the house. I only want to get him physically stronger for his own good.

I think its great that your being nice about it and want to help. Most partners are afraind of offending the other if they say anything and this is what i get from a lot of my cients (im a trainer) so what can you do?..well I think the best way to approach it is with light hearted jokes to feed it in his head "come on you wuss" " i can lift more then that"etc.. then test him, dare him to lift some weights as a joke and see how much he lfts compared to you, Some of my clients have even used little gifts or treats as the incentive to get them to compete with the weights.

the main thing is there has to be an incentive for him. He is obviously comfortable and doesnt see the need to be stronger so give him one. Ask him to work out with you tell him its a new thing you want to try because it would make you happy to work out with him. ... theres some simple weight training on my blog for beginners you can offer him to do http://myfitmate.blogspot.com/ good luck with it i hope it works out.

i dont know

get a copy of men's health, roll it up, hit him over the head quite hard and fast for about 30 seconds, and then give it to him to look at. make sure he's eating 8 small meals a day, loads of protein powder et c.

talk to him in a nice way...it's kinda hard to say things like that coz he may find it offensive...but tell him that you just want him to be healthy (definitely for health reasons and purpose)...avoid saying things such as to make him look good or to have a better chest or shoulders coz he might think that you're just after with what people would say and think everytime you're out with him...booze his confidence :)

Tell him that you'll leave him for me, Just kidding. My suggestion would be that you put on movies with great looking physiques( don't know if spelled that correctly). Movies like Casino Royal or the Rocky series. Those guys look like they can lift 50lbs

Don't leave him though, just encourage him saying that its good for you guys' health and that he'll feel better in many areas of his life.

Also, get him the Men's Health Magizines or Muscle and Fitness. Looking through those has always inspired me to go to the gym.
