What does it mean if your vision gets wavy on the outer left side?!

Question: I'm a reasonalbly healthy 55 yr old woman and I was sitting at my desk not really doing anything and the outer side of my left vision became wavy or ripply.

There are three possible causes:
1) migraine is the MOST COMMON! You don't even have to have the headache part of the migraine to have the visual symptom
2) retinal detachment (you're too young, though)
3) stroke --- if you still have the symptoms, go to the ER
