Im 13 and i want to lose weight.PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!?!


Question: im 13 and weigh 141.I want to lose 10 pounds but i dont know how?! I tried using the treadmill but it got really boring and
tire-ing so i stopped.I have dance dance revolution super nova if that helps..and it has the calorie counter too..so please help me..

First, don't freak. You're body may be going through a transition and finding a comfortable weight for you. Don't starve yourself, either. It rarely works and is never safe.

A few tips below:

1. Try avoiding sugary drinks (ie juice, soda, energy drinks). Stick to water or plain milk.

2. Pick up a sport at school. its great exercise and never boring.

3. Try eating small healthy snacks at least three times a day so that by the time you reach a meal, you're not overly hungry and end up eating more than you want to. Try carrot sticks with a little ranch dressing, nutrigrain bars, graham crackers, fruit, yogurt, etc.

4. Reward yourself. Don't push yourself too hard. You are young, and like I said above, don't worry too much about your weight.

5. Avoid eating a lot before bed. I have a bad habit of seeking a chocolatey snack before bed, but chances are, I won't get a chance to work it off. So if you decide you want a dessert, eat it midday.

Keep up with the treadmill. Eat properly. Don't eat lots of sugar and carbohydrates (though a little is healthy). Dance dance revolution is a good alternative to the tread mill when you feel bored of being on the treadmill. Furthermore, on top of your quest for a hopefully healthy body you should also attempt to maintain a healthy mind. For example, learn how to spell. Tiring is not tire-ing.

turn on your radio to your favorite station and dance.. ALOT 1 hour a day gradually work your way up to longer... if you get bored. Goof off dance.. Keep dancing like a fool LOL have fun with it..
You will burn calories while having fun, and helping your cadiovascular by pumping the blood to your heart!

nobody said workin out is fun.... my advice... have a friend work out with you... if u cant then listen to music as u work out.... do mountain climbers if u no what they are they get rid of stomach area fat... hard but effective...

start running in the streets with a friend or parent. that really helps also just try to eat alot of fruits and veggies.

Set a deadline to lose the weight and write it down. For example, ' By Dec 14/04 I will weigh 150 lbs or less'. Put it somewhere you will see it daily.

6. Give up soda

If you drink a soda or 2 a day you are adding empty calories. If you find it hard to stop completely, cut back at first and drink water instead.

7. Grill or boil

Avoid fried meat, grill and use lots of spices. You will get used to it and probably enjoy it more.

8. Don't buy junk food

When you go shopping, don't go on an empty stomach and you will be less likely to buy junk food. Keep your home 'junk food free' so you won't be tempted to indulge.

9. Eat breakfast

Consume most of your calories early in the day and always eat breakfast. Don't eat after 8pm and not only will you avoid those added calories but you will sleep better.

10. Give yourself a treat

When you tell yourself that you can't have something you want it more. Give yourself a treat once a day ( ie. half a cookie) and you won't feel you are missing out.

11. Use smaller plates

Trick yourself into believing that you are eating more by using a smaller plate.

12. Drink lots of water

Drink water when you are feeling hungry and you will get that 'full' feeling.

13. Don't eat everything on your plate

Many times we eat just because it's there. Pay attention to when you have had enough.

14. Eat five or six meals a day

Eating more frequently will keep you from getting too hungry.

15. Plan your workout sessions

Write your workout sessions in your journal or planner.

16. Stay away from fad diets

Fad diets don't work. If you lose weight fast chances are that you will gain it back ( and more) just as fast. It takes time to put it on and time to take it off.

17. Do several workouts a day

While you are watching TV do crunches and leg lifts.

18. Measure your food

If you decide to have junk food for a snack - be sure to measure and control what you eat.

19. Keep pre-cut vegetables

...and ward off those cravings.
