There's no set time limit for how long it takes a person to develop an eating disorder. Basically, once she has a pattern of disordered eating that she's maintaining regularly, she's got an eating disorder. The important thing is that you are a concerned friend and are noticing that something isn't right with how your friend is treating her body. The first step is to merely say something about it. Not a confrontation, per se, but merely a conversation where you reveal that you're concerned and let her know that you're noticing that perhaps she's not eating as much as she should (or have seen her vomiting regularly). Just the fact that someone has noticed might be enough to shock her back to reality. But perhaps she'll brush you off and say it's nothing. Many sufferers of eating disorders feel that they're just "dieting." And maybe she is. However, if you still feel uncomfortable with her habits (for example, she eats nothing but lettuce, if anything at all, and seems to have a real fear of food in general), I'd bring it up to her parents. They can watch her at home and reassure you that your friend is eating with her family. If she isn't, they can take the necessary steps to get her therapy or a family intervention. Whatever choice you make, let your friend know that you care about her, think she's beautiful as she is and that you only want what's best for her health. Good luck.

It took me a month to break the habit of eating. I lost like 20 pounds in two months. Then my sister moved in with me and I started eating again, but I'm starting to slip back into that disease. It sucks, it's not fun. It's torture and pain. If you think your friend has an eating disorder you need to sit her down and talk to her about it. Make sure that you tell her how pretty she is, that helps a lot. Good luck.

I'm not sure actually but I know once you get hooked, it's so hard to quit. Say you're trying to quit right? After all that time spent puking it back up, your body thinks that's what it needs to do now so every time you eat, you can't ever hold it down!
I hope you're friend will be okay!

well dont wait till she is to get her help. make sure right now that she doesnt have an eating disorder and if u find that she does then try to help her.
