Muscle already growing just after 4 days?!


Question: im 16 years old, 6'0ft and I just started lifting 20pounds dumbells about 4 days ago for many hours, reason i started with 20 is cuz I never worked out with weights before. so about 4 days later I already begin to notice a little bit of muscle growth on my arms and begin to feel great, not just that but i was also finally able to beat my friend in a arm wrestling match for the first time!(he use to allways win and he also works out with weights) So my question is, does muscle really grow within 4 days? my friend says muscle growth has to do with metabolism and protein or something like that. And how long does it usually take for muscle to REALLY show.

You lucky bastard! You're blessed with being very susceptible to bulking up. Although, another possible explanation: if you worked out a lot when you were younger, and stopped for a year or two, that might explain it. You see, when you stop working out for a long time, 70% of your muscle will go into latency, and will not show very much, and then once you start back up it'll show again. Sounds like you're new to the whole thing, though, so, you're probably just blessed.

dude im 16 too and i started to work out alot also. (for track and the ladies). Ive been lifting 20lb dumbells and doing other weight training and in just a week i feel like i gained a lot more muscle mass. I have a hella fast metabolism too so ur friend might be right.
