How can I gain more muscle?!


Question: I'm 5'11" and 127 pounds. I want to gain as much muscle weight I can before my state tournament on the 26th. I am a vegetarian though so doing so is hard sometimes. I hit the gym 5 days a week already...any suggestions?

Its still possible to get proper protein even being a vegetarian. It's just a little more difficult since whey protein (from animal) is better at building muscle than soy protein. However, you can still do it by injesting soy protein shakes after your resistance training workout sessions. Be sure to do it within 20 minutes of your session to maximize protein synthesis.

You didn't really tell what exactly you do in your workouts..however..try to aim for at least 2 total body weight training workouts each week. Preferably 3....unless you are doing specific body parts..and also try to hover around 8-12 rep range with rest in between. Generally, this range is best for muscle hypertrophy.

Go to GNC and buy some.

going to the gym means nothing, you could be running miles or cycling for hours and have the apposite effect. Loose fat and create lean muscles.

if you're not eating enough carbs and aren't doing weights along with it you won't gain any muscle. Also this takes weeks but it will work.

Go to a exercise store and buy a protein mix, one with great flavor (not chocolate), and start lifting weights

As always, I reccommend abbreviated compound training routines performed 2 -3 times per week.
