You don't need to lose weight, you are fine!

You can certainly do it. Drink lots of water and walk an hour a day. You will lose that and more!! Good luck.

idk how to lose 30 pounds, but to lose weight in general, drink lots of water--it fills you up, so you eat less and also has no calories. cut out soda b/c tha'ts just empty calories. and exercise more/lift weights. metabolism works faster for increased muscle mass.
just plain eating less will not be v. effective b/c if you skip a meal or something simliar, you'll just eatm ore the next time or sometime in the future, itll catch up w/you

It;s a realistic goal so you can definately do it. Just eat all the food groups in their right proportions,drink lots of water, excersice regularly and have will and dedication...and be consistant all the way through. Goodluck! :o)

In India you drink lots of watery butter-milk without salt and sugar

You need to discipline yourself to eat cleanly and workout regularly.

A great book is Tosca Reno's "Eat Clean Diet" book - it's not a "diet" per se, it is a book about eating in a clean and nutritious manner for the rest of your life.

Throw out refined carbohydrates and processed foods. Dump out the diet soda.

Start a good exercise program. Cardio, cardio and more cardio is NOT the answer. In order to lose weight successfully, you need to build muscle which increases your metabolism.

A great program to try would be Turbulence Training which has 45 minute workouts for beginner through advanced exercisers.

Another good book that you could get from your library would be Jillian Michael's "Winning by Losing."

Not knowing where you are at physically makes it hard to make recommendations, defnitely get the go ahead from your physician before you begin any program.

To be fit you need: Proper nutrtion. Exercise. Rest.

Eat right. Don't cut calories back too far. Workout regularly. Make sure you rest and get sound sleep each night. Fitness is like a 3-legged stool. Which leg is the most important? Whichever one is missing!

40 pounds in 5 months is easy. Eliminate all junk foods, deserts, sodas and other sugary drinks. Avoid all MSG, aspertame and other "fake" unnatural sugar substitutes. Eat several smaller meals, breakfast is the most important to get your metabolism raised.

Exercise - even fast walking is good. Take the stairs instead of elevators. There is more you can do but following the above recommendations should get you to your 40 lb weight loss in 5 month goal easily.

Follow any diet and stick to it! Try and exercise for 30-45 minutes(walking counts) 3 or 4 times a week. There is no secret diet that allows you to eat all you want and sit around. You are going to have to find the will power to say no to fattening snacks and comfort foods. Correct your bad eating habits over a year or twos time and you can keep the weight off. The fact that you have a deadline tells me you just want a quick fix. Ask anyone who's lost weight and gained it back, diets don't work but permanent life style changes do. Ideally make slow changes, eat desert twice a week instead of 5 times. Don't snack after 7 pm, drink lots of water. There are a million tips on making these small changes, search the internet for diet tips and tricks. You can do it! Good luck.

I just started the south beach diet, yeah I know diet 4 letter word but they claim you will defently loose between 8-12 pounds in the first two weeks. The first two weeks are restrictive no bread, cerel, rice or pasta. Low fat cheeses are ok. It's a bit blan and I found myself craving pizza today. Although I also tryed to stop drinking diet soda and stop smoking so I guess I've taken on too much at once. It's suppose to be a great diet. So far I feel like I'm sliming down a bit
