Do you work out when you are soar from working out the day before or do you rest!


Question: I started hip hop abs yesterday (well 2 days ago,but yesterday I worked out for 2 hrs)it was so much fun I didnt want to stop and I didnt listen to my body now I cant bend over my back hurts! So do I rest or do I work out so I dont get stiff?

I suggest continuing with walking or other exercises that will allow the sore muscle groups to heal. The second link below has some excellent information.

rest before you injure yourself.

Personally I have sex when I want to rest.

Rest for a few days. You don't want to seriously injure yourself!!!

Most athletes will tell you that when it comes to weight training you should never over train, and you should rest muscle groups for a day between... unless you are a dancer or a gymnast.

It depends on how long you have been working out for, if you are just starting you are going to have that sore pain the day afterwards no matter what you do, an normally its good to work through it, but at the same time you have to realize if you work your muscles to much than you will not give them time to rebuild. When you work out you are tearing your muscles and than they regenerate and rebuild stronger and larger than before, but if they dont have the adequate time to heal your only hurting yourself and leading to a great chance of injury.

i do stretches just to loosen up and real slow excercises but not a real workout till i feel better

I workout because I eventually got used to it. If you keep resting you'll keep hurting and never get used to it.

stretch it out....start out with slow stretches...this will help relax the muscles that are causing you the pain and stiffness.

do a few exercises...but go easy. do not give in and rest...your muscles need to be used to improve. just take it a little easy today...but exercise!!!!

your back needs a break. if it were just your abs, I'd say continue to work out. you may be doing them wrong, too. you need to be careful not to injure your back.

Rest! 2 hours was probably way overdoing it. Typically when you work your muscles you should give a day of rest in between. You could hurt yourself/damage your muscles. Stretching today should help with stiffness. You can do other stuff too, like walking, or yoga. Good luck.

The only way to get rid of the soreness after working out is to work out some more. You have to do stretching first before doing strenous exercise. For your back ache, curl up like a ball to stretch your lower back muscles.

if you are still soar then you should not work out. you can hurt yourself. if its just alittle soar then its ok but if you can realy feel it then i would wait until tomorrow.
