Increase leg muscle at home?!

Question: Is there a way I could increase the calf and thigh muscles in my legs at home? I do the upper body with incline and decline pushups along with situps but I need something for the legs. Any ideas or do I have to use weights?

First of all you don't need weights. For your quads you can do squats; stand with your heels on a small book and lower your bottom until it is parallel with the floor, then push yourself up with your quads and repeat until exhausted. For your calves you can do toe raises; stand on a thick book with your heels hanging down, a chair in front to hang on to for balance; raise and lower yourself until exhaustion:usually around 50 reps. That should do it for you. If it hurts or feels like something is going to snap stop. Try again later. Take it easy at first. You can always recover from a light workout. Listen to what your body is telling you and you'll have a good looking pair of legs.

sit ups works damn well. and pretty quick too...

Try kettlebells. I just started with them, and boy were my legs sore for a couple of days. They are good for working out the whole body instead of just the "obvious" muscle groups.

Just get a pair of ankle weights that you can wear here, there and anywhere. I bought mine at Wal-Mart for $10
