Shin splints...oww!?!
Question: Hi everyone! I went running around my neighborhood Saturday, and I still can hardly move today b/c of these terrible shin splints! Does anyone have a good way to help get rid of them? Also-I usually run on a treadmill, is it more likely to get shin splits from running outside? (it wasn't a level terrain)

lots of ice!!!!!!! i run track and i get them all the time. what i would do is take little dixie cups and fill them up with water and freeze them. that way you can keep tearing the paper down until you've used all the ice.
run in the grass or someplace soft. that'll help prevent them
Rest Ice Compression and Elevation! To prevent shin splints in the future, you probably need new shoes. Get shoes that are supportive, people who have flat feet of flexible arches are more likely to get shin splints; if you fall into that category look for shoes that say they are for motion control--stay away from shoes that say neutral or ones that are specifically made for cushioning.
