Glute Exercise?!

Question: I have patella pain when I bend my knees and I have weak Glutes. I really want to build my glutes up, in strength and in size. Does anyone know any exercises for the Glute area that dont involve bending the knees or putting strain on the knees?!?

There are two exercises I like for the glutes.

One is the weighted back extension. This exercise requires a special piece of equipment available in most gyms.

There is also an exercise called Good Mornings where you lock your legs in a standing and bend at bend forward at the waist. There's a really good description of it at http://fitness.scoobysworkshop.com/legs....

pretty much all of them involve leg movements that put some pressure on the knees. i may try a straight legged dead lift....that should put a lot of pressure on your glutes and hamstrings, and probably not that much pressure on your knees.

Sorry, the glute's job is to move the upper leg. I don't know of any exercise or even gym machine that would do this for you without your knees being involved. And a side note, you really can't increase the size of your glutes. They are very dense muscles and while you can strengthen them they tend not to increase in size.
