Nope - that's a crazy myth. Folks used to say don't eat before bed because it will all turn to fat. The truth is - to lose weight, expend more calories than you take in. The problem with waiting until you are starving to eat is that you don't realaize you have over eaten until it's too late. Thus, the common thought is to eat five to six small meals a day instead of 3 big ones. That way you don't over eat and you are not hungry all day.

whatever you do, 3 meals, or 5 or 6 small meals, always eat something every couple of hours. Otherwise, your body will go into starvation mode if you're not giving it what it needs, and start storing fat as soon as you eat something. It's good to keep a balance, so your metabolism doesn't get out of control.

eat cuz if you stop then eat again your body will build up fat to prepare for another starvation

That is so unhealthy, the best way is to just eat clean. You should know what's clean and not clean. 5-6 small meals a day is the best way to go, even though everyone eats 3 meals.

NO. DO NOT STARVE. It's stupid. Eat 6 small meals a day and only eat carbs when you know you're gonna burn them off, watch your calorie and fat and salt intake and exercise often. Don't be so stupid and starve yourself.

My dietician explained it to me like this:

You know how bears hibernate? It's because they eat a lot right before they go to sleep for a long time. They can make it through the entire winter because their metabolisms slow down so much.

When you starve yourself, your body goes into "hibernation mode". If you don't eat frequently, your body says, "Uh oh... I better hang onto this meal as long as I can, because I don't know when I'm going to get to eat next!"

If you eat smaller meals (5-6 times a day), instead of 2-3 big ones, your metabolism will naturally speed up because it will learn that it's going to be fed again soon. And, since it speeds up by burning through the small meal you ate, you will lose weight faster.

So, get yourself on a schedule! Eat breakfast, mid-morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, dinner, and evening snack. And try to eat around the same time every day to prevent yourself from going hungry. :)

how can something that can potentially cause death possibly be good? I agree that several small meals throughout the day are better for you. it keeps your metabolism up. eat something light even if you are not hungry.

Yes that is true about if you dont eat your body turns to fat. because you have a empty stomach so it eats itslef up. And even when you dont feel hungry you should eat because your body needs food. So please eat even if you do not feel hungry.

hi, in march i was diagnosed with anorexia. I starved myself and it led me straight into a hospital bed. Starving yourself is the worst thing you can do, as it makes you feel tired, louzy, miserable because you haven't got the energy. It's best to eat 3 solid size meals a day with snacks in between to keep your energy up and so you can keep everything balanced. Please eat properly, i don't want anyone to go through what me and my parents went through.
