If you want to SEE a 'sixpack' or 'eggbox', you need to make the superficial muscle on your belly (Rectus Abdominis) bulk up and become 'lumpy', so that it shows through any fat you have on top of it.

This is called 'hypertrophy', and it works the same as for any other muscle. The process is stimulated by exhausting the muscle quickly (doing lots and lots of repetitions of an exercise won't help). If you can do a lot of situps or crunches in a row, you need to start doing them with a weight on your chest (bottle of water, bag of potatoes, etc), so that you tire sooner.

You should aim to 'fail' after less than twenty repetitions, but you can do extra sets after a small rest (up to ten minutes).

As your strength increases, you'll be able to do more reps, so you can hold the weight over your head to increase its leverage. Let the reps increase to more than thirty before you increase the leverage, so that you're fully comfortable with the increased power of the muscles when you challenge them harder.

A sixpack LOOKS good, but it doesn't make your waist work well. If you want to move better and be more capable, then you should AVOID situps and crunches, because the muscle that they build up is pretty unimportant.

The muscles that will protect your spine from damage, make your waist thinner, and help you to digest your food better (by compressing your internal organs), form deeper layers and cross over your waist in an X-shape.

These muscles are not properly activated by situps and crunches (even the twisting style); you need to exercise them with your body UPRIGHT if you want to improve their performance. They are used to TWIST your waist, every time your ribs and hips move in different directions.

Activities that activate these muscles include Salsa dancing, Capoeira, and walking with a 'wiggle', like Mae West. Swimming with a good 'technical' Crawl stroke also uses a lot of waist, and will help to improve the capability of your Waist, as well as its appearance

do situps morning and night and every week do 5 more then you use to..

for example say now you're doing 20 sit ups, next week do 25 sit ups
