Teens who feel unpopular gain weight?!

Question: New study says teens in Chicago eat/gain when they're not feeling popular... ? what a crock, and who paid for THAT study? nearly EVERYone in all the states around Chicago is overweight, as is the US average, as is the meals that EVERYone eats that's not watching, expressly what they eat.. thanks to soda, fast food, etc. (come now now!)...

idk i have always been overweight but i am popular

This is sad

i feel unpopular and im not fat
im not gaining wait either
ive felt that way forever
im fine
that study is waaaaaay off!

i believe it

i belive it...kids who have no friends have no one to impress

They should do a study on the parents in my opinion...they control the food their kids eat to begin with.

You are right, what you are saying is the main cause. Their parents should influence what the kids eat, if the kid feels unpopular, there should be other causes for that including being overweight.

the percentage of unpopular overweight people is probably higher than the percentage of popular ones. It's a waste of time study anyways.

idk but at my school it almost seems logical. what a stupid study.

Well Ima teen..I live in Cali tho but...no, I eat and gain when Im bored...If being bored comes from being unpopular then I guess its true...but I am pretty popular...so I think its just cuz Im bored lol =D

studies are NOT conclusive. They are just ways to explore different aspects of a topic.

first of all, I'd like to say the following comment : is EVERYone in all the states around Chicago(which isn't even a state) is a teen? hmm?No. The study refers to teens, therefore, you should refer to teens only in your response to the study. This is a common error. People falsely interpret a study resulting in confusion, frustration, bewilderment or anger.
Teens aren't even the majority of the population right now.
You are right to a extent that people are overweight not just because they're unpopular. it IS also because of what they eat.

You don't "pay" anyone to do a study. It is usually the government, -hence "pay"- or a non profit organization. The only thing you do "pay" for a study is most commonly your time.

BUT IT IS TRUE that some teens turn to eating as a "way out" of the depression and the unpopularity. Think about it, you feel NOBODY likes you, NOBODY wants to listen to anything you have to say, EVERYBODY ignores you, the few options out are eating, drinking, drugs, smoking, etc. I think of all these, I'd rather pick eating. That's what certain teens have done.

btw, just so that you know, I'm not overweight or obese but if it helps, see me as one. I don't mind. Whatever I am, IT IS ME and I'm proud to say so.

It's simple...

Low Self Esteem = Mindless, Stressfull Eating for short term endorphins = Increased Happiness for a short moment = Weight Gain.

It's the same for all of us, not necessarily teens.

I think that people are doing more studies to spread awareness, not just to make excuses. I agree with lots of the studies that are being done because they cause us to reflect on our own habbits and overall well (or unwell) being!

not every who isnt poplular is fat pfft... thats a sterotype
not every unpopular kid in chicago is fat
