Answers: I'm just wondering because i always seem to feel hungry right before bedtime.

It is common to feel hungry before bed. I'm not so sure about binging though. Your metabolism works in cycles, usually of about 4 hours. So if you only have breakfast, lunch and supper you could be 'missing out' on a meal. If you have supper / dinner late at about 8pm is stands to reason that you will be hungry by midnight, but if you are asleep your body 'waits' for morning. If you eat early at 6pm and go to bed at 10pm, you will feel hungry. The best thing to eat is something small with few carbohydrates, and don't drink coffee.

if you are throwing up before u go to sleep then u have a disorder...and yea i get hungry before i go to sleep all the time..

Its really bad to eat right before you go to bed because you dont give your body a chance to process and burn off the calories you just consumed. Your final full blown meal should be about 4 hours before you go to bed, depending on your metabolism.

It's not necessarily good because while sleeping you will not burn the calories that you ate.

it depends on whatever book of the moment you're reading. some say no, you can't burn it off. some say yes it's fine and it doesn't matter when you eat, because your body burns calories just by being alive.

i TOTALLY am a before bed binger and so is my sister in law. neither one of us are overweight in the slightest. i dont like it and don't feel like i have a lot of control over it, but...it hasn't harmed me in the probably 10 or 15 years i've been doing it.

It makes perfect sense, studies have shown that consuming high carbohydrate and high fat foods creates a release of dopamine and seratonin, two brain chemicals that mellow you out and make you happy.

If you are feeling anxious or depressesed, releasing these chemicals in your brain will make you feel better (temporarily) and may make it easier for you to unwind and fall asleep.

The problem is that binging is a short-term solution that can also contribute to making some of the root causes of some of those feelings worse.

For some people it's normal.

It is good to stop eating 2-3 hours before bed because what happens is your body becomes a fat burning machine during the night when you are sleeping, so you should stay way form the fridge and cabinets!

Good luck!
