How to Become a Personal Trainer?!

Question: I have the job already, but they say that i need certification (CPT - Certified Personal Trainer), I'm not sure about how to go about doing that. Is there a class? A test? As much information possible. And I live in St. Louis Missouri, so if you happen to know where nearby I would get that, that would be much appreciated. I also understand there are many other kinds of certifications, if you happen to know one for strength or agility, those are my main focuses, so I would like to get a certification in that. I am 16 years old, so I'm not sure if I can get certified at this age. And any other information, opinions, or comments are much appreciated. Please be as specific as possible.

Thanks,
-Sean

Visit these sites and find a certification near you

http://www.afaa.com/
http://www.acefitness.org/

http://www.nasm.org/

Many of the certifications require you to be 18 but you can read up on them. I think the one you will be most interested in is the last one NASM.

Good Luck!

A lot of community colleges offer certifications. I'd check your local community college because many of them have online courses. There is a certification test and 6 classes. This is the one at my CC, but there are many different types of training associations out there, so you may want to check with your work first to make sure that you go for the right one.
