What would happen if...?!

Question: What would happen if I didn't consume enough calories?

For breakfast: I'm going have an orange and 1/3 cup of macaroni
For lunch: 1/3 cup of macaroni, and some cheese and crackers
On the bus and during the first part of second period (we're allowed to eat in there) I'm going to have 1/6 cup of macaroni each
that's only 385 calories

For dinner: probably some rice and kimchi (i'm korean)
the sum would be 722 calories then
if i'm really hungry, i'd probably have some chex mix

the sum would THEN be 842 calories

i'm trying to cut down weight and the food will vary, but that's my lunch plan for tomorrow

is that healthy, or should i eat a little bit more?
if so, how much?
i'm trying to cut down 20 pounds in the next couple of months or so.

You are starving yourself. Keep up that routine and you will become anorexic! You DON'T want to go there, believe me!!! Do an internet search on anorexica, and you'll see why I said that.

You food plan is full of empty calories. Sure, you'll lose weight, but when you get too hungry, you'll probably binge, and the weight will just come back.

You didn't say how old you are, how tall, and your current weight, so saying you want to lose 20 pounds in the next 2 months is crazy!!!

What you need to do is change your eating habits and eat healthy if you want to lose and have it stay off. Cut way back on the junk or fast food, chips, sodas, limit your salt, sugar, and fat intake. Drink milk, 3 glasses 0f 1% a day. 6 to 8 glasses of water per day--this can be in the form of water, juice, tea, coffee--no caffeine.Only wheat bread or toast, no white flour. Low fat margarine--no partially hydrogenated oils. Extra virgin olive oils on salads, or vegies. Cut way back on starches like pasta and potatoes. Limit your sweets to 1 oz. per day, like chocolate-- only one of those micro-mini Hershey's candy "bars" that come in a bag of mixed varieties. Better than candy is fruit. Eat lots of fresh fruits daily, and fresh vegies, as much as you like of the green vegies. Most vegies are extremely low in fat, but filled with minerals, vitamins, and other good stuff for maintaining healthy skin and bones. No black beans for awhile--full of fat. If you just simply cannot live with out something sweet, chew sugarless gum.

If you are a teenage girl, you need at least 2000 calories a day, just to maintain good health. Go grocery shopping with mom. Read the nutrition labels, watch the fat content and sugar grams.

The proper way to "diet"(god, I hate that word--it really means what you eat ) is watching your portion sizes. You need 3 oz of meat, fish, chicken. That's about the size of a deck of cards, or your fist--about 1 cup. Your thumb from base to tip is the size of one ounce of meat or cheese. Your cupped hand equals one to 2 ounces of nuts or pretzels.

When you eat out, order half portions or child meals. Share with another person--one order, 2 plates, etc. Ask for doggy bag or ttake home box at the same time as ordering food. Put half the order in the container as soon as you are served. Make a meal out of the appetizers or side dishes instead of regular main menus. (I do that all the time!)

At home, use a smaller plate than the other family members, or a divided plate. Eat slow, savor each bite, like it's your last meal. Skip dessert, or save it for bedtime snack. Take enough for 3 small bites. It's just to satisfy your need for something sweet anyway.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Don't skip it-nor skimp on it. Have a bowl of Special K or Total, or hot instant oatmeal or cream of Wheat. 2 slices of wheat toast with 1 tsp margarine, a glass or juice or a piece of fruit, a WHOLE piece of fruit. a glass of 1% milk. Mid morning snack, fruit or vegies, Lunch, whole wheat bread sandwich with low fat or fat free mayo and reduced fat peanut butter and no sugar added jam, 1% white or lowfat chocolate milk, or a cup of fruit flavored yogurt. More fruit and or vegies with fatfree dip. After school snack, pretzels and apple. Dinner- 3 oz meat, 1/2 cup pasta or potatoes, no gravy,or a serving of brown rice. whole wheat toast and margarine, , fresh cooked vegies, and or fresh cooked fruit.

Don't forget your excercise--walking briskly for 30 minutes is very good--take the dog or your little sibling for a walk. Better yet, walk with a friend, or your mom.

What you will be doing is changing your lifestyle, you will lose the weight sensibly and it is more apt to stay off than if you fad or crash diet.

For the love of your body and health: Eat already!!!!!. Good grief, such a restricted diet is going to leach nutrient's right out of your body. Increase the protean as well as the amount of citrus fruits please. Else you'll get scurvy very fast.
