How long would it take me to lose this amount of weight?!

Question: The healthy way? I want to lose about 40lbs and I am going to do it by going to the gym 4 times a week and eating a healthy diet. I am 13 btw and eating about 1345 Calories a day out of my recommended 1986 and I will be planning to burn about 2000kCal a day, is this healthy for me?

Thank you for your input, no mean answers please.

I wouldnt look at it so clinically if i were you as you could be setting yourelf up for failure.. make the changes you talked about ie. going to the gym and eating healthily, and you will become fit and healthy.. the mathmatics of it are different for everyone, make sure you mix up your excersise and perhaps include swimming and cycling... dont skip meals and have a little of what you crave and you should set yourself up for a healthy life.... a diet of around 1500 should enable you to lose weight but make sure you are getting the nutrients you need otherwise you could end up not only losing weight but loosing teeth hair eyesight and fertility... good luck and dont be too hard on yourself..

It will take 5-6 months. But I would recommend not going below 1600.

dont worry about loosing weight yet! :) you will surely grow then fat will automatically 'dissapear' (actually it will spread out), lol when i was 13 i wanted to loose weight too but my parents said it was very unhealthy for me - you need calories and nutrients to grow. Eat as you would normally eat but dont eat too much just wait until you've grown :D

This is an extremely unhealthy plan. You might lose some weight, but you will also destroy your metabolism meaning that as you get older, you will gain more and more weight and it will become harder and harder to lose.

At 13, you are still developing. If you start crash dieting and compulsively exercising at this age, you run the risk of stunting your growth and permanently wrecking your metabolism.

Please talk to your doctor and/or a nutritionist for the best, and healthiest, way for you to lose weight. Weight Watchers allows teens whose parents & doctors approve them to join, and would be a sensible and realistic way for you to lose any extra weight.

i do not believe that is healthy. Eating 1345 calories a day and burning 2000... if im not wrong, is basically starving yourself. Aka, anorexia. Food isn't the enemy, as long as you eat healthy.. like lots of veggies and fruits, you'll be fine you are not going to gain weight, you will even probably loose weight. Food gives you energy, if you are burning and not eating enough how are you going to have enough energy to work out that much? ... Just work out alot.. lots of cardio, eat healthy and you should be fine. at your age, i wouldnt worry about numbers so much.

If you are serious about wanting to lose weight and get yourself healthy you can take a look at my profile with a parent, what I use is in there. It's the shapeworks program, it's simple, easy, delicious and nutritious! I really enjoy it!

I can tell you that I really love it and it works well and quick! It has given me a lot of good energy, I feel so great!

Good luck to you!
