Losing weight???!

Question: Trying to lose 30 lbs. by June...need some advice please. I've started a diet - 1000-1200 cal/day (most days it's around 1000). I have an elliptical which I use 3-4 days a week. I need some advice on calories burned on the elliptical...what's a sufficient amt? And how long do I need to work out on it? If I stick with the diet and exercise plan...do you think I will meet my goal?? Thanks!

It's definitely an obtainable goal. You have about 21 weeks so if you loose 2 pounds a week, you can do it in 15 weeks and beat your goal. I was loosing an average of 2 lbs a week and I never exercised, I only adding more fruit and veggies to my diet and instead of eating ground meat, I eat extra lean turkey meat or chicken and nothing fried so you should be able to do it. Just remember to be healthy.

You also need to add weightlifting this will help you build muscle and burn more calories through the day.

The eliptical is good- I would say about 3-4 miles on the days that you use it.

The amount of calories is good. I don't know if you will loose 30 by June, but you will be well on your way.
GOOD LUCK

While dieting, it's very important that you eat at least 1200 calories. If you eat below this, your body will go into 'starvation mode', slow your metabolism, and make it harder to lose weight.

Also, remember to eat back your calories. For example, if you decide to go on a 1200 calorie diet and you burn 200 calories on the elliptical, then you would only be 'eating' 1000 calories, so you should eat 1400.

Keep up with your discipline in exercising and eating healthy. Maybe add in another form of exercising, like walking, pilates or even yoga to your routine. I think the more options you have in exercising, and adding in the exercises in your daily routine will work well with you. Exercise at least 30-1 hour per day and you should meet your goal of losing the weight you want.
