Do non-calorie flavored "water" drinks count toward your daily water c!

Question: I am confused what counts as "water" toward my daily water consumption goal and what does not. Decaf coffee counts toward the total water consumed but only the first cup. Water with carbonation does not count because of the carbonation. Is that correct? What about things like Crystal Light or similar? If I add a Crystal Light mix to my bottled water is it no longer contributing toward my total daily water consumption?

Yes, it does count towards your water count. The carbonated things won't, because it takes water to digest the carbonation...so you lose water. Also one hundred percent juices will not...because your body will hold them in your gut as food to digest them, instead of absorbing for water. But crystal light is okay and will count. Be careful how much you drink at first though, they use splenda (aka sucralose) and man that will give you the squirts if your body is not used to it...so don't drink too much until you are used to it. You know, I think PUR water filtration systems offers a system that will flavor your water as well...and there are a couple of different flavors.

ALL liquids do!

The flavored water is fine, as long as it dont have any carbonation in it... When you add Crystal light it really dont count because you are diluting the water.

Flavored water drinks do count, but not as much. The sugar substitutes create a diuretic effect which causes you to lose some of the water. I would count it as a .5 to 1. Also, they have been saying recently that you don't need 8 glasses of water per day, but rather you need 8 glasses worth. Fruits, vegetables, soup (low sodium), all count towards this total. The latest news is to drink when you're thirsty. Our bodies are made to tell us what we need.

Liquid is liquid, whether you've added flavoring or not.
They say water because that's what you should be drinking. It's pure and doesn't contain man-made chemicals (i.e sweeteners). It does a great job of making you feel full.

Coffee, even decaf, is a diuretic so too much defeats the purpose. Plus, if you add milk & sugar, you've added to the calories. Carbonation also does not make you feel full, just gassy, and you shouldn't be drinking more than a glass or two of bubbles a day anyway.

Crystal light and similar contain man-made chemicals that may or may not be safe (saccharin and aspartame I'm looking at you!).

You should be getting at least 2 glasses of milk in your diet everyday too.
