I am trying to lose weight, and would like suggestions, please.?!

Question: I struggle with wanting to eat constantly, I know it is all mental, but was wondering if anyone has any suggestions to overcome the constant desire to eat even when I know I am not hungry. I work all day, in an office, then I go home and take care of my family. I know I need to exercise, but time is hard. I have lost 4 pounds in about 2 weeks, but I still have a long way to go. I have tried eating breakfast, lunch and dinner, and am not snacking, but the urge to eat is hard to deal with. PLease help. Thank you all!

Some people find that instead of eating three larger meals a day, 6 or 8 small ones works better for them. You might be one of these people.

As long as you choose healthy foods (so hard, I know!) and don't eat too much, it doesn't really matter *how often* you eat.

You might also try keeping a food journal. Write down in a little notebook everything you eat and drink. That will make you more conscious of what, how much, and how often you're eating.

Another suggestions I saw recently (someone wrote a book about it) is to spend a few minutes every morning writing (longhand, not on the computer) about anything at all. This helps to process some of the emotions that might be causing you to seek out food when you're not hungry.

And don't deprive yourself completely. Let yourself have a small treat every now and then (a Hershey's Kiss after lunch, or a cheeseburger once a week). Feeling deprived only makes us focus on food more.

Four pounds in 2 weeks is a great start. I just started myself, and I know I'll be going through the same things.

I know thismay seem rather silly but it has been helpful to me. I place photos of really in shape sexy women on my fridge. This way when I get the urge to snack I just look at the images and I am reminded that I want more to look like them than to fill my face. Just a tip. :)

Don't drink your calories...switch to water. Get rid of all food around your desk, chew sugar-free gum or brush your teeth to keep you from eating at your desk.

Calories in, energy out. Try to do little things for exercise, steps instead of elevator, park farther away or play with the kids.

Good Luck!

Stop eating all sugars, snacks and sodas. You have to work out for you to beable to lose weight also.. I have been struggling also for the past few months because of lack of time. You have to learn how to manage your time schedule and put aside time to be able to excersize.

it all in your head, all you need to do is stop thinking about food and concentrate on something else.

drink more water this will help curb your appetite so you don't feel as hungry and it will help keep your body hydrated and it will also cleanse your body of toxins. i have a very busy schedule as well and little time for working out one thing you can do is run up and down the steps a few times if you have a staircase, you could just jog in place for a couple minutes when you get home, situps before bed, any little thing can help. good luck

Ok! One great thing that will really help you lose pounds that taste great is boiled broccoli with some melted cheese. You lose pounds and it taste great!

its ok to have snacks just eat healthy foods and make healthy meals. like when your snacking eat an apple, banana, strawberrys, oranges, and other fruits and sometimes even vegtables and if that sounds boring then spice it up a little like strawberries with whipcream or make smoothies out of the fruits they taste really good!!!

Do snack between meals, but substitute those chips with fruits and vegetables. Eating healthy between meals is a good way to build your metabolism along with exercise. When you're at work, take the stairs instead of the elevator, bring your lunch and spend the rest of your lunch hour doing a brisk walk. Stretch once every hour at your desk. These are good ways to sneak in some exercise during the day.

A couple maybe

You're right that it's mental. Eating when you are not hungry just because of habit. You might try going to a therapist or pshyc who specializes in hypno-therapy. They are more common than you think, and it's effective against "habits" like these. My wife used to to successfully quit smoking.

In the meantime, if you have to nibble, do it on something low calorie, like celery

As for exercises, a little goes a llllloooooonnnnngggggg way. A good book for diet and exercises for the busy person is "You on diet" written by an MD. It has good diet advice as well as some real generic exercises stuff for a busy person. Things like buy a pedometer and make sure you walk 10,000 steps in a day.

Good luck and God bless!

Density eating will fill you up without the calories.

I also gave up drinking regular sodas and have an occasional sprite ZERO, Fanta Zero or Fresca instead.
Changed from white bread to 100% Whole Wheat.
And drink 2% or skim milk instead of whole milk.

I have lost 14 pounds so far.

I am a 12-year-old and I am as thin as a stick. So I don't really know what to do to lose weight. But I know some things. The most important rule I know is that if most of your family is like that. You know I mean if it is genetic you could never lose weight more than a few pounds. But if it is not genetic, I could tell you some stuff. Try to have some time every day to excersice for at least half an hour. May be just walk. Try to get away from red meat. Have alot of vegetables and fruits. Decrease the amount of oil and sugar in your food. Well these are the stuff I know. See ya later. Hope you get thiner!!
