How do you motivate yourself to work out?!

Question: I would like to work out on a daily basis, but I find it hard to get up and get going. Any suggestions?

I think about how good my body feels during and after a workout. I also think about how proud of myself I will feel if I do it (especially if I'm not really feeling like it beforehand), and how guilty I feel if I don't. I really get motivated by watching those weight loss reality shows like "Taking it off" and "x-weighted" while I workout.

Take a long hard look in the mirror!!! Your profile, prefferably.

i have people in my everyday life call me a lazy slob, yes I tell them to say that, I DO!

Yes, keep doing it and eventually you'll do it automatically. Right now get up, get a tag or piece of paper, stick it on ur mirror and say DO EXCERCISE on it. Everytime you look at the mirror do 5-10 pushups and 5-10 situps (depending on how fit u r). Increase it about every 2-3 weeks by 2-5 and you should be looking better within 3 months.

At the moment, my husband and I are trying the bribery system. Each time I work out, he gives a bit of money towards a massage(something I never choose to pay for myself but really want). So far it is working out reasonably well. If you have a friend that is already dedicated to working out, they can be a great motivator too.

Pick a time and stick with it. No matter how you feel stick with it. After a week or two it will become a habit.

Take a picture of yourself in a string bikini. Tape it to the fridge or freezer, or above your bed.

You need to think that if you don't work out ..you will be an ugly and unhealthy person when you are older!!

when you first get up take a cool shower then go straight for a little jog that should start you off then you should be in the mood to do any daily work out go on give it a go what have you got to lose except those pounds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yeah i see heres what happened to me... on monday like i was watching tv and i was bored so i got up and started working out while watching tv.

i guess its the fact that i want to be a lil bit skinnier and more built makes me motivate myself.

plus i want to work for the FBI after i graduate, and i want to make my chances higher to get in.
i mean i don't want to get in, the way i am now and have them screaming at me "saying nice job, you let that criminal get away!!!"
i want them to be sayin to me "great job on cathing the crook, i want to put you up for a promotion!"

I felt lazy and wated to become fit for a while. I realized the only thing stopping me was me. I bit the bullet and started working out and improving my diet.

There were a lot of other factors I had to change. I realized all the excuses I was making for myself, like choosing another activity, or reasoning why I didn't have to do it.

Also, I did a bike-a-thong a few months ago. I thought to myself, if I could bike for 8-10 hours a day --straight, basically -- why can't I get on the cardio machine for 45 mins or more a day?

I, myself, make sure I schedule mini weekend vacations about every three months or so where I am required to be in my bikini. Nothing expensive or no place crazy..but I give myself a reason because I know I want to feel good in my swimwear. The more I have to show off my body, the more I realise I have to take care of what I am showing off.

I have had three kids..and I am back into my size 2 jeans. I lost 60 pounds and feel fantastic and So I reward myself with my mini weekends for myself to reward myself for my hardwork because it feels good to know I can be proud of my body and show it off.

Here is how I did it.

The perfect way to loose weight and monitor your progress is to use a calorie counter on a daily basis while you diet.

Energy In/Energy Out

Food Intake: 1,200 Per Day

One Pound equals 3,500 Calories

To loose one pound per day, You need to burn your food intake plus your one pound of fat

1,200 (intake) + 3,500 (Outtake) = 4,700 Calories Burn

You must burn at least 4,700 Calories everyday to loose one pound at least. It is very easy to go up and beyond 4,700 calories each day.

Best way to do this is to track your progress on a calorie counter monitor watch. If you do it by the numbers you can loose the weight. It is just a matter of changing the way you think about weight loss.

Once you start wearing your calorie counter you can see the numbers increase and you fill find yourself doing extra things in your day, like tapping your foot while waiting at the light in your car, chewing gum, singing out loud and so on onto of your workout routines. You begin to see that everything you do in your day contributes to the overall numbers needed to loose that pound.

Water Intake/Less Storage

Most people do not get enough water in their system. Water is your body's principal chemical component, comprising, on average, 60 to 80 percent of your weight. Every system in your body depends on water. For example, water flushes toxins out of vital organs, carries nutrients to your cells and provides a moist environment for ear, nose and throat tissues.

Lack of water can lead to dehydration, a condition that occurs when you don't have enough water in your body to carry out normal functions. To determine if you are getting enough water use this simple formula.. Take your weight, for example 150 pounds and divide by 2. Take your answer which is 75 lbs and change it to ounces, in this case 75 ounces. That is how many ounces of water you need a day. Your body performs mostly on water. If you make sure you get enough water everyday your body will perform at top notch and your body will no longer have the cravings of junk food. You will have a better performing body system to help you work out and feel better thru out your day.

Good Food

My favorite things to eat:

Avocado Wraps

Simple: Low Carb Tortilla, Half Avocado sliced, alpha sprouts, lettuce, soy bacon...Just wrap it up and eat. You can vary the things you put inside so long as you keep it to approx 4 or 5 items. You want to make sure they are fresh, low calorie and filling. Avocado and mushrooms can replace meats in your meal and still have great taste.

Special K Cereals are fantastic. They have that sweetness that one craves and is so good for you. Calories are low. Great for even just dinner.

First thing in the morning...A Glass of Chocolate Milk. Yup!! Chocolate Milk. We all crave that "got to have" item in the morning. Milk is the best thing you can have for yourself while working out. The chocolate (and you can use Carnation Instant Milk for this but I simply use Nestle dry mix) will give you that sweet "snack" that you need. If you give your body a little bit of it and its in a control way, you will not crave sweets and junk the rest of the day.

Lean Cuisines

Fantastic food! Each meal is approx 180 t0 380 calories per box. So think about your calories. 1,200...You can still have several of these meals a day and still be under your intake requirements.
