How long will it take for me to lose 15 pounds?!


Question: I run and workout 3-4 times a week, and I play outside a lot (basketball, trampoline, etc.) But I still manage to gain weight because of my eating. I don't eat a lot of bad food, I just eat a lot of good foods (Granola Bars, Turkey, Baloney, etc.)

So what foods are recommended for going on a diet. I'm 13, 170 and 5'8. (I don't look like i'm 170, I have muscular legs). And what else can I do to lose weight?

I want to lose around 3-4lbs. a week. Is this a good target weight loss?

Make sure you drink lots of water!! Also, start writing down everything you eat and approximately how much you ate. It can be very suprising how quickly all those little "uncoutnable bites" can add up! Eat lots of fruits and veggies and make sure to eat low fat products whenever possible. You may lost 3-4 pounds a week for the first few weeks, but after that, your weight loss will probably slow down. A modest 1-2 pounds a week is a good target. I know that doesn't seem like much, but before you know it, you'll be at the right weight.

Ummm. If your thirteen, you shouldn't really worry about this yet. Let your body finish growing and then things might straighten out on their own accord.

I would never say that any thirteen year old should go on a diet ever. Your body is still settling, after all.

However, if you feel like you just have to, consulting a food pyramid is actually a really good idea. You should stick to the servings it says for your gender and age. Try not to eat too much protein because that's typically for building muscles (which is one of the reasons you said you weighed what you weigh).

3-4 lbs is a good goal but remember that it will be easier and harder at different times.

its possible to lose 3-4lbs a week.
since you're 13. i think you should stay with playing sports and dont eat until you're full.just eat enough.
or just eat every 3 hours.

you can do it don,t be too hard on yourself though you can feel deprived

DAMN, jk. Your thirteen, your going threw puberty. And who cares if your on the heavy side, your living a healthy life style.
