How much sodium should a person who is dieting eat.?!

Question: I am gettin married in 5 months and am on a diet, i need to lose at least 20 pounds, hopefully 40 (just had a baby 3 months ago and the weight is still here). I am just watching my calories. I noticed alot of the foods i am eating seem to have high sodium, like for instance a diet bar has 150mg soduim. 7 gr of sugar and 15% trans fat. My question is how much in total should a person who needs to lose weight consume in one days when it comes to soduim, sugar, cholestrol and fat.

Thanks for any answers!

How many calories are you eating a day? 2000? As long as you are burning more calories than you consume, you will lose weight. I see you are reading your food labels which is a great step. If you are eating 2000 calories a day, keep your total fat less than 65g (avoid trans and saturated fats). Of those 65g of fat, less than 20 should be saturated. Cholesterol less than 300mg. Sodium less than 2000mg. Carbohydrates less than 300g. Avoid the simple sugars and go more for fiber. Drink plenty of water.

Sodium is not required in any diet and has no nutritional value. Unfortunately, it tastes good and its in a lot of foods. Salt makes your body retain water weight. Since it is not required for any nutrition in your body, no salt is the best way to go. If that is impossible to live by, just remember that your body will benefit the less sodium you have - but none is best.

Very little, if possible, none. (Which is impossible) Stay away from ketchup, certain soups, pizza ok but not too often. Sodium slows you down making it hard to burn off the calories. You don't want to retain water. If you eat anything with salt, be sure to drink alot of water.

30g tops....i cant do that though...good luck...im sure you will look great your wedding day, just stay strong

2300mg of sodium a day is the daily recommended amount. sugar you should keep as low as you possibly can, fat you should be getting 15-20% of your daily caloric intake of (but healthy fats from olive oil, avacados, raw nuts, organic nut butter, fish ect...) and cholesterol is not an issue unless you have cholestrol problems to begin with.

cut sodium in half of the normal amount because it causes ur body to retain more water, stay away from cholesterol, avoid high fructose corn syrups and trans fats as much as possible because they are harder for your body to break down. Instead of eating diet bars find a natural alternative because they don't help that much
