Cardio = Aerobic exercise
Any activities that get your heart rate elevated are cardio, like running, fast walking, cycling, jumping jacks, jumping rope, etc. It is important because:
1. It's one way to burn calories and help you lose weight
2. It makes your heart strong so that it doesn't have to work as hard to pump blood
3. It increases your lung capacity
4. It helps reduce risk of heart attack, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetes
5. It makes you feel good and reduces depression
6. It helps you sleep better
7. It helps reduce stress
Makes your heart stronger, helps you get bigger lung capacity, reduces cholesterol & helps to loose weight.
A Cardio work out is when you get your heart rate up.

Yeah basically any sport is a cardio activity. It usually makes you sweat, causes your heart to race and pumps your blood throughout the body. It helps burn fat and lose weight, stay fit, and also keep you healthy.
