Poor College student!! lol.?!

Question: Ok.. so I live on my own, and on a very VERY little budget. I want to know if there is a certain diet that is pretty cheap, just to eat healthier. I feel like I am eatin too many pastas and things like that because they are cheap and easy. What do you recomend for a cheap healthy diet??

And. What do you recommend for a daily workout? I want to tone my stomach, and also my BACK! I noticed when I wear a t-shirt you can see like my fat on my back. I am a fairly skinny person. I just want to tone up. ya know?

Thanks everyone for your help!

Hey, join the club! Veggies and fruit are more expensive (I know how you feel, noodle cups ROCK!), but that's what you have to eat. Buy club packs of meat and freeze them individually (ie, freeze chicken breasts separately, half pound of ground turkey, etc.) Eggs are cheap, and good for you. Have a two egg omelet in the morning, and a piece of fruit for a snack. It may take a few days of getting used to, but the protein/fiber combo will fill you up faster. As for a workout, you can probably join your college gym relatively inexpensively. If not, invest in a couple exercise dvds and mix them up with some jogging and core exercises (situps, etc). The key is, it takes time.

go wheat free. No pasta, pizza, bread and so on. And no food after 7 p.m.
I know a woman who lost 60 pounds a month on it. She did nothing else!
For the workout, get dumbbells. They are cheap and take very little place, and they do wonders. I got a six pack with them in two weeks (did crunches before for a year with no results).

Vegatables!
Salads - A head of lettuce is .99 cent. Find what you like to put in it to make it good to you...lunch meat, cheese, etc...

Fruits can be expensive, but canned fruit is okay I guess...

Eat lots of vegetables and fruits (usually there are some on sale every week in the store) and find a cheap protein like eggs or tuna. Even chicken is not very expensive for the amount you get. If you can see fat on your back, you may be "skinny," but lacking muscle tone. I would suggest running outside or on a treadmill at least 2-3 times a week mixed with some weight-bearing exercise. If you can't afford a gym, do push-ups, sit-ups, pull-ups (if you can't do a full pull-up have someone assist), and body weight squats. Look for more body-weight exercises on the internet. Hope that helps!

LOL me too I'm a poor college student.

I bought Abs-Kings (that crunching machine they advertise on TV) and do a few crunches when on short study breaks. It does add up. 2 study breaks, 15' each is already 30' of work-out.

Diet, I just cook on the weekend for the whole week. Basically every meal should have proteins, carbs, and fibre. Then have Fruits as snack and desert. Choose what best suits ur budget and tastebud.

The sad truth is that eating healthy tends to be more expensive. You'll want most of your foods to be meat, vegetables, and fruit, with only small amounts of complex, slow digesting carbohydrates like brown rice and sweet potatoes. For your workout you're going to want a combination of weight lifting and cardiovascular exercise. I talk quite a bit about diet and fitness on my blog, you may want to check it out at http://fitnessratchet.com
