Is obesity really such a problem?!

Question: Honestly, everyone's obsessed with it, what with all the tv shows and diets and crap. We have bigger problems, don't we? Do you agree?

i completely agree with u
america is over obsessed with all the body image crap when they should be focusing on more important issues

yes it really is.

it really is a big problem. go take a little stroll through a shopping center, examine everyone's bodies, and then you'll be able to answer your own question. obesity is a huge problem.

Yes.

because it's a problem when people are fat

obesity poses many health risks, you can die from it, i dont belive in diet pills and all that crap but people who are overweight should diet and exercise, if you're more than 20lbs overweight, you dont have to be stick thin, but its just a health risk, you can get a heart attack, stroke + many more

Yes, obesity is a danger to both the individual and the society. You may live uncomfortably your whole life, you may die young, you may pass your medical costs on to family or society, you may raise the costs of services that have to provide special chairs, utensils, and clothing to you.
Just do your best to stay under the obesity level and we all win.

It is a huge problem because it impacts more than just how people look and feel about themselves. In a country where we are experiencing a health insurance meltdown, being overweight is a serious issue. When you are overweight or obese your chance of dying from chronic diseases like heart disease, diabetes, stroke, etc goes up exponentially. We live in a society where insurance is very expensive and many employers are no longer paying for insurance for their employees because its way too expensive. At this time, many obese people are denied health coverage at all because they are too big a "liability". Obesity can be classified as a disease simply because the stress it takes on the human body will ultimately cause morbidity and mortality. While there is a vanity issue to losing weight, it is not what makes obesity such a pressing issue.

its not a problem, unless its someone you know. People can get fat and unhealthy as much as they want...weeds out the weak people in this world. Only reason it would be a problem is if it was a family or friend...or you.
