Can you damage your body by doing Intense exercise?!

Question: Today was my cardio day so I did some interval training on the treadmill where I use an incline of 10% and give it everything I have for 30 minutes. I know 30 minutes doesnt sound like much but this is super intense stuff. My heart rate was up to 198 beats ber minute(im 32 years old)at its maximum and I maintained a fairly high heart rate throughout.
It was very tough and now ive got a headache. I never, ever get headaches and so im wondering if anybody knows if very intense training can have any adverse affects>
Thanks

Its possible your dehydrated. Try drinking water. Becarefull though, Drinking too much water can actually kill you. Weight training can stout your growth but your 32 so I doubt the only grown you'll be doing is in your pants.. wahahahahaa.

YES. If it hurts, stop. Try a little less next time.

yes, if you arent used to it, go back to alittle less. You are to build up to amounts. And it takes more than a week at a time to do that.

if you do to much to fast or your body is not conditioned for such activity... then I believe you can damage your body.

It can only have bad effects on your body if you do not eat correctly or get rest after the workout. If i would u id eat some protein drink some water take an aspirin and relax

you can damage your muscles if you dont warm up first

you should never go over 80% of your heart rate like that. you are going to end up putting yourself in the hospital like that. headaches, stroke and pain are all indicaions that you did way to much. if your headache continues go to the doctor and tell them what happened they will want to make sure your okay. I know i landed myself in the hospital for 3 days because i over did it. almost gave myself a heart attack and i'm only 29

Of course it can. You can get muscle strains, your body can become dehydrated (to a lesser or greater extent), bone issues (breaks, strains etc), if you ate something odd it could affect you through the course of the digestion.
For instance, I work out fairly early. I would get really hot during the running phase of the workout and determined it was the caffeine I drank beforehand making me like that. So, no coffee, just water before I run.
I would suggest drinking an electrolyte drink 30 minutes before your run. Any simple liquid is good to do but the one I suggested is like a preventative measure (like taking some asprin & water before you crash after a night of drinking.)

Yes, you have to be good to your body; We have bones and cartilage and muscles, etc. that do have limits. You should listen to your body, when it says enough, stop. You should listen!

It's okay to push yourself but you can push yourself TOO FAR!
Listening to your body is the best indication that you can/will have. No one else knows what you are specifically and personally feeling. Get in tune with your body, and then listen!

Good look to you! Be careful, take care of yourself!

If you over exercise you can pull a muscle and it really hurts. It happened to me just the other day

Yes. Intense training is not a good idea for anyone who hasn't been building up to that slowly. Not only will it give you headaches (probably from severe dehydration) but also will cause excessive fatigue as well as bone/joint/tendon injury which will set you back for many months if not years in terms of your workout program. If you've built up slowly to that level, fine, just listen to your body and stop when it tells you to stop and make sure you are only doing it 2-3 times a week on alternate days to get enough rest time in between.

While high intensity interval training is a great way to burn calories, you shouldn't be getting headaches from it. Dial it down a notch and include some resistance, core, and balance training as well.

Were you drinking water throughout, and after? A BIG cause of headaches is dehydration...

On a side note, next time you get really drunk drink tons of water before bed... NO HANGOVER!! :)
