Can you be an average weight anorexic?!

Question: I pretty much have the psychological damage of anorexia, but I'm average weight. Is this possible? Is anyone else like this? What do you think about it?

Yes, it is absolutely possible. I became anorexic at almost 180 pounds on my 5'5 frame and by 140 lbs I was already down to a heart BPM of 42 (which had me in and out of the hospital all the time, as my body was metabolizing itself - or, to put it more harshly, eating itself, as I was restricting too much).

It became harder to lose weight too since my metabolism kept slowing down... I will not tell you my lowest weight because it does nobody any good to see a number like that, but it was certainly unhealthy and by then I was inpatient in the hospital.

An eating disorder is diagnosed by a set of behaviors, not a number on the scale. I have healthy friends that are normal and very thin (genetically! may I add, not something we can beat and punish our own normal bodies into!)... though their weights might be low that isn't anorexia in and of itself. It's the actions and thoughts that go with it.

So yes, it is possible, and I was like that for a while, and I think that it's something many anorexics experience at some point, but most don't get intervention or help in time and that's when you see those Skeletor Mary-Kate Olsen, Nicole Richie-last year type creatures... their eating disorders started when they were normal, after all... they just refused help or nobody caught it in time.

yes it's possible, the same as it's possible to be average weight with bulimia. What ever weight you are if you starve yourself to lose weight it's anorexia.
