Hit plateau on Atkins Diet?!

Question: I am on Day 10 of induction and I lost 7 pounds in the first six days, but have not seemed to lose any since then. Should I continue with induction for the full 2 weeks? Does anyone have any experience with this? If so, do you think I will start losing again? I want to lose at least 10, if not 15 pounds.

I did Atkins a few years back when I wanted to lose some weight quickly. Definitely do not stop now. The idea behind Atkins is that your body goes into a state called Ketosis...long story short this takes two weeks or more. If you stop now, your body will not enter into ketosis and burn fat. The weight you lost the first six days was most likely water. Give Atkins time...it DOES WORK. I, personally do not think it is a good long-term diet though. Lose your ten or fifteen pounds and try to maintain your desired weight with a good diet and exercise.

You may first want to check your carb count and make sure you're low enough to get into ketosis. Drink plenty of water as this will speed up your metabolism. If you're not exercising yet, then you should try to fit in some cardio. This, too, will speed up your metabolism. Keep in mind that everyone loses weight at different rates. When I did Atkins, it wasn't uncommon to go a few days without losing weight, then suddenly lose 3 pounds.

Yes, continue with it. But this is what you need to do. Change your exercise. You have to basically "sneak up" on your body. It can not know what you next exercise is. It learns and adjust so if you do the same walking everyday, at the same time, for the same duration and at the same pace..it will stop burning the high calories. You need to pick a different activity daily and at different times of the time.. Surprise it..it will make your body work harder and burn more calories.
