Exercise problems........please help?!

Question: I've been told that your body gets used to any exercise regime you do regularly. You need to constanly change the type of exercise you do for it to be effective.

Does anyone you know often you should change you exercise regime?

I have dumbells so what types of exercises can i do at home that will tone up my body.

Lastly, is it true that doing squats etc give you chunky thighs? If so what can you do to make them smaller?

Thanks

Mia,

Yes you need to change your exercise routine every 3-4 weeks, You can do many types of exercises using dumbbells for a given muscle group. Go to www.shapefit.com to check how many exercises you can do for a single muscle group. If you want an advanced workout program then get P90X, the best home fitness program ever made.

Squats with heavy weights will of course increase the muscle mass in your thighs. Theres no real good way to spot reduction so if y o want small thighs you'll just have to diet and work out.

Squatting is a seriously high energy event. Be very careful because if you start to squat regularly, your appetite will really kick into high gear and you'll need to make you don't fill up on junk.

I'm not sure about the squats making your thighs chunkier, but I thinnk you should change your excersice routine once you find you can complete it easily. NOt too easily, but easy enough tthat you don't feel too tired. So it depends on how fast you get used to it. Sorry, but that's all I know. I hope it helps.

You don't need to change it, just go up in weight usually. Squats do make you gain muscle mass, but most of the time it just replaces fat with muscle which makes your butt look tight.
