Agree or Disagree? If the people who made....?!

Question: Nutrition labels, falsely INCREASED the amount of food calories they print, wouldn't people lose weight just a teeny bit easier?

For example:
Lets say, someone was eating a 1600 calorie diet, and they calculated their portions by the calories on the label. BUT, if the calories were less, then they would be eating about 1300 hundred calories a day without even knowing it. Wouldn't that give some people an edge on their diets?

totally agree you should suggest that to some company or professional dieting organizations. but then again, they could get sued for incorrect and false information..

agree

idk

agree

definetly agree! it is true

I have no idea. But if they knew that about the labels they would probably over eat and in turn gain wait. But seriously, I have no idea.

Not really. Sure, it sounds good, but calories are your energy.
Because what if someone was eating only on 1200 calories because they wanted to lose weight? They might only get 900 & just make themselves effin' confused.

Yeah and just think how much the FDA loves it when food companies lie on their labels!

that is pretty retarded and its a crime!

wow i never thought of that but you make a good point i agree

agree that would be pretty cool to see happen

yeah, but what about those people with diabetes that control it by diet?....they would be calculating their diet with incorrect data......what you are suggesting really is deceiving the buying public, and lawsuits would ensue quickly im sure.

Maybe, but not likely. I would just eat more!!

i totally agree!! you definitely would have the edge. same as someone secretly setting the clock 15 minutes ahead for you to get up ON TIME.

No because it will be lying to the public.fat people should get help to manage the urge to eat and do more exercise.

It would be like setting your clock a bit ahead to trick yourself to avoid being late....it only works for a short while than you figure it into your plan. MIght as well be honest and responsible than fooled.

This works mathematically, but not nutritionally. If a person doesn't get ENOUGH calories every day, they don't lose weight, but go into a very unhealthy 'starvation mode' ... they ache more, they're more tired/sleepy, they get viruses easier, etc. So ... you can't 'fool people' into eating 'less' by telling them they're getting more than they are in reality ... and it takes good old fashioned WILL POWER to exercise and diet and lose weight properly.

You may be right, but it's dishonest. Nutrition labels are governed by the FDA, a part of the government. The last thing we need from the government is more dishonesty. The best we can hope and expect from our government is honesty. We have to trust citizens to make well-informed decisions. They need FACTS to base their decisions on. Trust citizens to make decisions for themselves based on truth.
