Do you think books on dieting and exercising are a waste of time and money?!

Question: high protein,low-fat,low-carb,4-6small meals a day. and work hard in the gym.
I looked on amazon and there are hunders of thousands of books that have to do with dieting. It just seems useless to read all these books. Does anyone agree with me?

Yes I most definitely agree! The diet/fitness industry thrives on people who are looking for a 'quick fix!' No one wants to believe that hard-work, will-power and consistent dedication are what truly provides healthy lasting results! Try telling someone that balance, variety and moderation are the keys to healthy eating and that fad diets will only lead to nutritional deficiencies and they will look at you like you are an idiot... and if you mention the 'cookie diet' or the 'super bagel diet' they jump right in expecting to have a toned, tight body in 7 days!

The solutions are simple - read labels and know what you are putting into your body, stay active (not just for 30 minutes at the gym but throughout the day.) BECOME INFORMED - the solution really isn't that difficult to grasp!

Yes, most deff! you can get anything and everything online for free! just google what your looking for and your set!.

diets dont work its your lifestyle..... so basically yes yes some diets work but in the end of the diet do you think that weight will stay off if you get an active life style and learn to eat as healthy as possible you will be healthy

depends if there useful or not

but i do find some of those advertisement like the "dancing for abs" a waste of time and money cause i only do sit ups and i got a perfect 6 pack

well, I think that you can look through a book in about 5 minutes and get the jest of it. Most books say the same thing. Exercise, stay away from fats, carbs, etc. Eat veggies...if there was anything that was breaking news, we'd hear about it nonstop. We wouldnt have to research it.

But then again, I suppose some books, like Kevin Tredeaus, are at least an interesting read.

I think some of the books can be helpful if you're looking for a specific type of workout or type of diet. But you can find almost anything online these days and there are a lot of free TV shows that basically say what are in the books, and the Internet and TV are a lot more convenient and cheaper than books!

I don't think we need quite so many of them, but I do think that they are helpful to some people. Some people find them motivating and useful. Not everyone goes to the internet for information. They are no more a waste of time and money than a lot of other books I see around, and actually many of them are a lot less harmful than other books on the mraket today. To each his own. "A waste of money and time" is a very personal thing and means different things to different people.
