Why do I keep eating even when know I should be trying to lose weight?!

Question: I'm about 5'4 1/2, weigh almost 160 and I know am overweight for my height. Some say I look just fine but I have a pear shape body and when I gain weight it all goes maily to my abs and thighs. I like my body but it's just getting out of hand. It seems I can't stop eating..to make it even worse, am always junkie foods. I couldn't tell you the last time I ate proper meals for a straight week. Am tired of feeling this way. What's wrong with me ? Why can't I just eat the right food? And it's funny cause am not one of those who believes in "low fat" or "low carb" diet type stuff. I believe in eating everything in moderation..just like the food pyramid encourages. I think in my mind I know what to do but why can't I just do it? Please help!

You sound just like me! I
Do what I did: join Weight Watchers Online!!
You don't have to go to any of those creepy meetings, and they help you eat the foods you want in moderation. Weight Watchers is great because you really can eat whatever you want......BUT....if you want pizza and wings for dinner, then you need to have a lower calorie lunch and breakfast that day. Nothing is off limits, thats why I like it.
You track points during the day to stay on track and you get more food points to eat more if you exercise.
Just check it out, I've already lost 15lbs on it in about one and a half months (not counting when i didn't really follow it over x-mas and new years.) What you need to stay on track is something to follow thats in your head everyday. It keeps you motivated.
Here is the link to the website. Check it out!! It works and isn't terribly difficult to follow:

Good Luck!

this may sound weird but it is true for most people. you are addicted to the food. Carbs im assuming. they give a great endorphan release. i would suggest appitie supressants like caffien or hoodia

Carbohydrates are the body's preferred (and cleanest) source of energy, so I am all for carbs, but they have to be the right carbs. Sugars and simple carbohydrates (like white flour) can be almost addictive, but I can't remember why. You have to break the cycle.

First, give or throw away all the junk food. Get it out of your house! Then plan a bunch of meals and snacks that are healthy, and make sure you are stocked up--lack of planning can make you slip when you get hungry. Get nuts, fruits, veggies, beans, lean meats, hummus, steel-cut oatmeal, etc. Stay away from processed foods. Then when you are hungry have a nice meal, for snacks, have fresh fruit, or fruits dipped in nut butter, veggies in hummus (I love cucumbers in hummus), or nuts. Whole wheat bread or pitas are okay, too.

Stay away from the junk and you will be able to avoid it easier. And if you goof up, forgive yourself and try better next time--don't just say "oh well, pass the poptarts." ;-)
