800-900 calories??!

Question: I'm averaging between 800 & 900 calories a day. Is this totally unhealthy and dangerous or what? This includes only healthy stuff like fruits, vegies, dairy, a little meat, and grains. I feel no need to eat more. This fulfills me but everyone seems to be worried and scared that I am obsessed. What do you all think?

You're eating fine. Most people eat too much. If you're not hungry, as you say, then don't worry about it.

probably want to add at least 500 depending on your weight

It not too dangerous but I'd increase to 1200 that is the safe and perfect amount for optimal weight loss

it seems ok to me but try add a little mke asthhe average is 2000

Are you exercising alot too? Exercise plus that amount of calories is definitely unhealthy.

But how many calories you need also depends on how much you weigh and how old you are.

I wouldn't say it's any more dangerous than the average American diet, especially since you are eating a healthy balance of foods. The amount of calories you consume will depend greatly on your lifestyle. The experts say you shouldn't take in less than 1200 calories a day, but if you are sitting on your butt all day like I do, you probably don't need that much. However, if you're very active and/or still growing, you might need as much as 2500 or more calories per day, especially if you have a high metabolism.

Bottom line, if you are eating enough to satisfy your hunger, you are probably getting all the calories you need. In fact, some studies have shown that low-calorie diets may increase life expectancy (http://longevity.about.com/od/lifelongnu...

However, if you are looking for better nutrition, adding more exercise to your daily routine will stimulate the metabolism, allowing you to increase your caloric intake and the amount of nutrients you consume.
