Creatine will make you look bigger but will really just cause you to retain a lot of water (water that can just as easily disappear). In a large number of cases in terms of sport performance, that will severely affect your performance in terms of speed and mobility. Filling your muscles with water weight can also cause stretch marks, which might detract in terms of physical appearance that muscles ideally are meant to support.

The best way to increase size is by increasing your caloric intake in a healthy way (low saturated fats, low sugars/carbs). Some research suggests increased protein intake can add to lean body mass & muscle growth. For myself, I have found this to be true and take a protein shake after almost all workouts to feed the muscles. By feeding the muscles after a workout, they heal faster and can grow to be larger.

But I recommend doing the research and consulting a health professional about nutrition. Go to a local gym, even if you aren't a member and talked to a certified personal trainer or nutritionist. Email someone at the local hospital and be polite about it. They'll answer your questions that your coaches might not be aware of.

Men's Health is also one of the best magazines around that talks about this matter every issue in some form. Check out their web site and philosophies on gaining muscle mass.

Bottom line is that creatine is a waste of money.
