Do you burn calories standing up?!

Question: if so, how many ?

Answers: if so, how many ?

Actually, you also burn calories, when you just lie down....our body is always in "action"....just not that many....when you run, you burn the calories of an apple in 5-10 minutes, if you sit in front of the TV, it takes an hour....I'm not sure about standing, probably the same as in sitting, or a little bit more....?!

yep, more than you do sitting down

the simple act of standing up rather than laying down will burn 100 calories per hour as opposed to 50 calories per hour. so just standing burns an extra 50 calories per hour.

As long as you are living and breathing, you burn calories. The rate is dependent on age, gender, weight, activity level, and quite a few things we haven't discovered, yet.

There is no way to tell you how many calories you, specifically, burn. The best we can do is estimate. If you are "average" (and I use that term loosely) in all respects, your basal metabolic rate will be about 1200 calories a day, or 50 an hour. Standing still takes little more energy than lying down, so I *estimate* you would burn about 60 calories an hour, or one a minute.

you burn calories just by living. You burn calories sleeping.
