Is drinking Organic fruit juice just as good as eating fruit?!


Question: Those darned things rot before I can get a chance to eat them!!! I'm challenged at buying fruit. It seems like they don't like my house very much because they keep rotting before i can eat them! That, and I'm only in the mood for an apple every so often, but i love juice! I could drink organic fruit juices all day long! ? But does organic juice count as a serving of fruit?? Is it the same way for vegetable juice, because I don't like my veggies very much but i can stand the juice.

Some organic fruit juices have some of the fiber & pulp and stuff. You might also consider dried fruit, especially the home made sort. I've been meaning to try it ever since Alton Brown did it on an episode of GOOD EATS.

I know what you mean, I can't eat it faster than it can rot myself. :-)

The FDA considers a serving of juice to be equivalent to a serving of whole fruit or vegetables.

But they're not exactly the same.

Whole fruit has fiber, which helps your body more easily handle the large amount of sugar in the fruit. It's possible there are as yet undiscovered nutrients in whole fruit that are lost when juiced.

Somewhat, but like apples have a lot of vitamins in the peel, so depending on whether or not it was juiced with the peel, it might or might not be the same.

No it's very different. For instance, if you eat an orange it's giving you the neutrients FROM the pulp, the skin (I know sounds gross), the seeds and the other stuff in fruit. The juice is only the inside, but you gotta eat the fruit to get the full effect.
When it comes to veggies I'm not totally sure. But I assume it's the same way.
