Rosanna,
Please don't worry about it. The best thing you can do as a female is to add weight training to your fitness regimen.

Females lack the amount of testosterone necessary to support the level of muscle growth that would look bad. The ones you see on tv occasionally have been doing nothing but lifting weights and in many cases, taking steroids. They also try to get their body fat into unhealthy levels, which gives them the so called 'ripped' look. To me, it looks very bad. However - a good healthy female with muscles in the right places, is super sexy. They do not look masculine. They look feminine in an extra healthy way.

If you do a healthy daily workout, even if you lift for an hour or two, the amount of muscle you gain will simply give you a nicely shaped look. It won't be masculine. In fact, it looks good. Who can deny that Gabriella Reese is hotter than a volcano? The same is true of the other Gabriella (Sabatini), and all the female gymnasts that can do walking handstands. They lift weights.

Remember - a pound of muscle burns 9 calories of muscle per hour all day every day, just because it's active living cell tissue and it's doing something. If you gained 10 lbs of muscle, it would be spread around, it would look good, and you'd burn an additional 90 calories an hour, or an additional 2000 calories a day over what you are currently using. Think of how easy this makes it to stay trim, from the perspective of body fat.

The other thing to remember is - you are a female of course. Many years down the road - your body will be going through changes, some of which are detrimental to bone - in other words, osteoporosis. Weight lifting makes your bones denser because they become strengthened by the small amount of flexing when they are loaded up. You'll see the weight on the scale, but you will not see it in your clothes or anywhere else. You will also strengthen your connective tissue -the tendons and ligaments.

You will be less likely to suffer injury, sports will be more enjoyable and less painful, you will recover from injuries more easily, and you will be less likely to strain or break anything. When you are older - your back will remain straighter, you will look younger for alot longer, and you are alot less likely to break a hip if you step on a leggo that a grandkid left in the rug.

Bottom line - Lift weights. Do aerobic exercise. Eat healthy. Get your body fat where it should be, but don't try to get it under where it should be. You are a female, and it shouldn't and doesn't need to be less than about 18%.
Please be careful about defining what looks good by whether or not various parts are "thin" or thick. Those are the thoughts that lead to problems like bulimia and anorexia.

I may be a guy, but I know what I'm talking about on this stuff. Please confirm it with a female fitness instructor or start reading a good fitness magazine. (not one of the steroid mags either).

impossible. you lose fat, but you gain weight. MUScle will make your body look bulky, cut, and strong.

you won't turn butch and tank, you'll just have nice muscles, toned

Muscle contantly burns fat, but it weighs more than fat.

Unless you plan on making your abs big (which WILL push out belly fat) you should be fine. When you use those muscles you plan to build, you can burn fat and build muscle.

Make SURE u do the muscle work outs BEFORE you do cardio!!! Its good to build muscle, keep toned!!! if you do cardio youll loose weight and if u do muscle toning after cardio youll just get bulky!! get it

no ur just gunna be toned and ppl will be so jelous of you :)

Im sure they wont get too bulky, dont worry

no muscles wont make you look fat.

No, you will have a nicely toned body in addition to being thinner which will make you look healthy and not anorexic. Aerobic and weight exercise will also send more oxygen into your body which will cause a glow in your skin and cause your hair to be healthier. Unless you are going for the strongest woman ever title you don't have to worry about horribly big and muscly.
