Which is more efficient?!

Question: Cardio excercize or weight training? I have been doing mostly cardio and have lost weight but don't see it. If I want to actually see my results, is weight training better? What are the pros and cons of each?

Both are efficient in different ways. While cardio helps to burn existing fat and leaves your heart healthy it does little to build muscle (which is a key factor in increased metabolism). You have last body fat, which is great, but to get further with your goal you will need to incorporate a weight training program at least 3x week. It will help give you that toned look as well as increase your resting metabolic rate, which means you will be burning more calories at a resting rate...that means you can consume more calories when you hit your maintenance goal.

Ms Monroe, the answerer to your question I believe is both
you want to to the cardio to build healthy heart muscle and increase your metabolism, you want to do weights to build and tone your muscle. I would do alternate days, but both are the way to go.
You may also want to think about doing protein shakes to help build muscle and burn fat. I personally like the Herbalife ones, as they use the purest ingredients and have been in this business for 27 years, so they have a lot of knowledge.
I personally like their protein shakes and drinks. Any way I wish you the best.

the most efficient way is to combine the 2 with a good diet and plenty of water and quality sleep ... if you are wanting a smaller build, keep the reps high and the weights low, but make them heavy enough that you still feel the burn at the end of your set ... for cardio, choosing something like swimming or kick-box aerobics will build core body strength and definition while burning a lot of calories ... if you go to a gym, get a hold of one of their trainers to get you started, they can teach you proper technique so you don't hurt your joints ...

as for pros and cons, there are really no cons if you have proper technique and a good balance between the 2 ... specifics activities may have cons for your body type, but there are too many types of activitie to go through the possibilities, espcially without knowign your body and health ...

also, try not to eat after 7-7:30pm, go for a 20-30 minute walk after dinner, and avoid foods that will irritate your stomach ... for example, a lot of people are lactose or casein intolerant, this causes gas and bloating and water retention so they look a few pounds heavier than they really are ... this also makes your digestive system less efficient which can hinder weight loss ....

good luck ...

I do both and get results with both. It's a combination of the two. While the cardio blast fat, the muscle build burns calories also, along with giving you a more toned look.
