I bought a manual treadmill and returned it. When you stop walking, it automatically stops. Save up for an electronic treadmill. It will force you to keep going.

I wouldn't buy it.
There's a huge risk you could break it.
Weight limits were put on there for a reason.

dont buy one that has a weight limit below your weight.

if it did break you would void the warrenty. electronic are better and fairly cheap on ebay

I'm a fitness professional. Over the years I've used and seen a lot of different treadmills. Weight limits on treadmills are there for many reasons. If you are 250+ you should not use a treadmill with a weight capacity that is below your weight. Plus manual treadmills are cumbersome and jerky because you operate them by pushing your feet along the treadbelt to make it move and motorized treadmills move the belt with the user only having to keep up with the speed of the belt. Also, manual treadmills have little or no electronics in the console. Motorized treadmills have numerous workout programs and consoles to track your workout feedback (including heart rate), thus keeping you motivated. Plus motorized treadmills can have motorized inclines, console fans, MP3 inputs, speaker systems, featherlight folding systems, etc. The biggest 2 points of motorized treadmills are: 1. normally better quality and 2. safer for the user.

That doesn't mean all motorized treadmills are built equally... You should stay away from the Edge and ICON brand of products due to quality and noise issues. The ICON brand includes such names as NordicTrack, ProForm, Weider, Weslo, Cadence, Image, Epic, Reebok, HealthRider, & Gold's Gym. Remember you get what you pay for! I'd recommend the Horizon Fitness treadmills because they're great units, with features, styling, and noise suppression that it's competitors can't match. Horizon is pure quality, with excellent warranties and for their price Horizon's the best deal around! The Horizon T82 treadmill would be a nice step up from a manual treadmill. It has a full 20" x 55" running area to accomodate your still growing stride due to your young age, it has a "feather-light" folding system, console fan, 14 programs, up to 10% incline, 2.25 HP motor for speeds to 10 mph with a 300 lb. maximum user weight capacity, contact heart rate sensors, heavy gauge steel frame, and you can pick one up for about $798. Take a look at the Treadmill Sensei's Review (link below) of the T82 where he rates it 4.5 out of 5.

As far as where to find Horizon products, you'll get great service at the lowest prices by buying on-line. I just checked pricing yesterday for several clients and A2Z Fit (link & phone below) was the best on-line Horizon dealer out there. I've worked with A2Z many times in the past for my clients. You'll get Free inside delivery, extra discounts, financing, and no sales tax (except when shipping to PA). Also, they're customer service oriented, knowledgeable about the products they sell, and willing to answer any questions you may have. Get in touch with A2Z Fit. I'm sure they can help you out... I hope that's of benefit to you!
