How effective are pushups?!


Question: i know pushups help increase my biceps, triceps and.... what else? when i do a push up which is more helpful: having my arms spread out or having them closer to my body. plz help

Perform wide stance AND shoulder-width stance pushups. Do each to exhaustion. Both work pectoral, shoulder and lateral muscles in addition to those you already noted.

For maximum results, raise and lower your body SLOWLY.

If you are able to do a ridiculous number or repetitions, wear a backpack and start putting weights in it.

Try one-arm pushups.

Pushups ARE effective if done at least every other day AND they are done properly. The best part is that no equipment is required so that where ever you travel, you can always continue training a large number of upper body muscles.

Different ways work different areas. Everything must be taken into consideration. How your hands are on the ground, if you use extra weight, and so on. For triceps you should do "diamond" pushups.

Spread out, as this put more pressure on your arms.

They are more effective the mre you do them!

Pushups are good for all muscles in the body but bad for the back if you do them wrong.

Spread out, basically the load is further away from the support so it needs to do more work.

The chest, back and shoulder muscles get worked as well

as effective as your anus!!

Wide-arm push ups work your chest more than anything else and close-arm is mostly triceps and biceps. pushups in general aren't really for building mass, but if you do them regularly you will gain a lot of endurance and some definition.

You'll use more muscle if they are closed at your side... or even more so if they are under you, try to do it, it's freakin' hard.

Depends upon your goal. For fitness, push ups are great. Generally just doing them normally (Shoulder width apart) is good. It's perfectly acceptable to mix it up by spreading your arms out or doing "diamond" push ups with your hands together in the shape of a diamond. These methods are rather difficult.

If you're looking to bulk up, try weight lifting.

They make your chest and some parts of your arms bigger. If you want good results do them regularly. You can do it either way they both help different parts of your body.

pushups are good for your back arms and your upper body period. it is a good exercise because like lifting weights you are using your own body weight therfore you will bild some muscles in the upperbody. the closer together the harder , but it sis better because you have to workout harder, but always try look up infront of you to stretch out the back muscles to prevent injury!!!!
