Am I eating enough?!


Question: Ok, so I started my Diet on Thursday..
I'm 5'8.
I was 260.
I quit fast food and soda, and only drink water.
I am 249 now, but I know it's water weight.

Ok a rundown of what I've eaten.
Thursday - Just a slimfast.
Friday - Slimfast, Lean cuisine.
Sat - Slimfast, Lean cuisine
Sun - Slimfast, Fresco style ranchero chicken soft taco.
Mon - Slimfast, Leancuisine.
Tuesday - Cereal, Lean Cuisine.
Today - Cereal, Yogurt, and I'll have a bowl of beans later on..

* I use powered slimfast, so I blend in a banana and frozen fruit with it*

I hate being obsessed, I just want to lose my weight for good now. I'm tired of yoyoing.

Any advice?

Grats on wanting to make a change for the better.

But you are not eating enough though. And the foods you are eating is so so in the good and bad side. You might have taken out the junk foods but that Lean cuisine is still considered as junk in my book.

You will need to eat three times a day. With smaller portion meals. Avoid snacks.

You will need to start exercising. Start off by walking your way to shedding those pounds. Exercising is the easiest and safest way to lose weight.

At your weight, if you really want to exercise, you will need to get a check up first to make sure you are able to do it without risking injuries. I am not saying that you can not do it by yourself. I am saying that you should always be cautious when it comes to your health.

A simple cardio exercise routine to help you on your way to a better you.
Cycle 1
Phase 1
7 Days a week of walking. Walk for 10 minutes each day. Anywhere.

Phase 2
7 Days a week of walking. But this time for 15 minutes.

Phase 3
5 Days a week of walking. Each time for 20 minutes.

Phase 4
5 days a week of walking. Each time 25 minutes.

Cycle 2
Phase 1
3 days per week.
70% Walking and 30% jogging. Each time for 15 minutes.

Phase 2
3 Days per week.
60% Walking and 40% jogging. Each time for 20 minutes.

Phase 3
3 Days per week.
50% walking and 50% jogging. Each time for 20 minutes.

Phase 4
3 days per week.
30% walking and 70% jogging. Each time for 30 minutes.

1200 calories minimum is needed to be healthy. Make sure you're taking vitamins. Your body needs 1200, and always eat the most for breakfast. You are for sure not eating enough! You are going to make yourself sick. Eat at least 1300's a day. By starving yourself you are going to just screw up your metabolism, so eventually the way you eat will become normal, and if you have anything more you will gain weight. That is no good, right? You will lose calories about eating 1300 calories a day too.. for sure!

If you starve yourself, you will not be able to stay on a diet. Rather than "diet", eat 5-6 small meals a day, balance them with protein (turkey, chicken) and a lot of veges. Don't drink a lot of sodas or fruit juices. And MOVE. Walk, bike, just keep moving.

I think it's too little, and you know how that can slow your metabolism down. The safest amount to lose on a diet is only about a pound and a half per week.

Try alternating the Slimfast with the Special K thing, which lets you eat more.

I think you should go to a nutriologist or something. Weight Watchers are supposed to be really good.

The ultimate fix for me was excercise - it sped up my metabolism, and since I did a lot of cardio (spinning) I'd burn the calories of all I ate.

It's great you quit soda and junk food -- they're the greatest culprits. Try drinking nonfat milk, or low fat soy milk, they're great for you, too.

Go to http://www.mypyramidtracker.gov/ There you can fill in everything that you eat everyday and they will tell you what you need what you have too much of and chart your diet day to day month to month and so on... It's really great, sometimes I have trouble balancing my diet and this site has been awesome...

The way to loose weight for good and not yo yo, is not to "diet" but to make healthy lifestyle changes to can stick to. Chances are a diet that consits of slimfast is not one that you can stick to, and once you are "off" the diet you will go back to your old habits. Start making healthy choices eat between 1200-1600 calories a day and exercise regularly and you WILL lose weight. It might not be as quickly as you would with your current diet - but it is MUCH more likely to be long-lasting.

weight does not get lost from what you're doing, although that is a significant change, it seems as if you have the motivation to diet but not to workout, honestly i would go vegan for a while and do alot of endurance excercises. btw going vegan does nott mean salad, you still need proper nutrition and it seems that that is your problem, i would suggest eating right in the first place. slimfast and a banana a day is suicide and it will hurt you body somewhat permanantly.
